Upgrade Your Garage For Improved Home Security

70% of Americans use their garage door as the primary entrance to their home.

That's a lot of opportunity to leave it open by accident. A connected garage door powered by Alarm.com helps eliminate this problem.

Using your location as a trigger, our exclusive Geo-Services feature alerts you if you leave home without securing the garage. You'll get a pop-up smartphone alert that lets you close the door right away, from wherever you are. You can also create an alert to tell you if the door is left open for a certain amount of time.

Home Security Smart Locks

Say goodbye to keys. Lock or unlock your door remotely, set time-limited access codes, and always know when someone unlocks your door.

Home Security Sensors

The security system's door, window and motion sensors are installed around the home to detect intrusions when the system is armed and activity when the system is disarmed. They can also trigger other devices to respond to activity in real-time. For example, when you come home from a long day, your hands full of groceries, the lights inside your home can automatically turn on when the front door opens.

What does a contact sensor do?

They're typically installed on doors, windows or drawers throughout the house. They have two pieces: one installed on the door itself; the other installed next to it on the jamb. When the door is opened and the pieces move apart, the sensor signals ‘open' to your security system.

In a traditional security system, the contact sensor's role is to trigger the alarm. If the security system is armed and one of the sensors on a window or door signals ‘open', the system will signal an alarm unless disarmed.

In a Smart Home Security system, the sensor's role is far greater. Their status (open or closed) can generate real-time smartphone alerts so you know when a door is opened around the home. These alerts are easy to customize, so you can set them up to get exactly the important information you want. For example, you can get an alert if a window is open when you go to bed, or if you leave home without closing the back door.

Because contact sensors are wireless and easy to install you can put them on almost anything that you want to keep tabs on.
